Russia has received a green standard certificate for the newly
refurbished stadium Luzhniki in Moscow for Russia’s World Cup 2018. The stadium
recognized as one of the most popular green-standard buildings in the world by
undergoing sustainability assessment (BREEAM). BREEAM does this through the
certification of the assessment of an asset’s environment, social and economic
sustainability performance, using standards developed by BRE (world leading
building science center). BRE has a mission to improve buildings and
infrastructure, through research and knowledge generation. It approves and
scores the value in higher performing assets across the built environment
lifecycle, from new build construction to in-use and renovation.
By undergoing through such
procedures, it proves worldwide standards of eco-friendly sustainability of the
stadiums for The World Cup venue.
According to FIFA requirements, all the hosting stadiums during The
World Cup must go through the checkpoints in order to prove their aptness.
Prime requirements include water conservation, energy efficiency, transport
access, comfort and quality of surroundings, waste management, environmentally
friendly materials, conservation of biodiversity, and access for people with
limited mobility. By building or renovating stadiums for World Cup, main
criteria such as ecological and social have to be respected, it will directly
influence town citizens life quality. A World Cup stadium construction has a
comprehensive impact on the environment and citizens, it is very important to
be accurate during the construction
or refurbishment by using water, energy, raw materials, and waste
evolvement. Strictly abiding those factors, it will help you to build

association, every project needs to go under the rating systems and sustainable
assessments.
Many other World Cup Russia 2018 stadiums received eco-friendly
certificates, St. Petersburg, situated on Krestovsky island in the city, which
was granted a gold standard certificate. Moscow’s other World Cup venue,
Spartak Stadium, was awarded a Good rating, while Kazan Arena was awarded a
silver rating.
For the last 88 years, Russia was chosen for the first time to
host such an important venue as World Cup 2018. We have to admit that the event
was hosted on the highest level in terms of the major professional sports
affair and approved by the world’s highest assessment BRE organization.
